I think we all can agree that life can be draining at times. Work gets to be a lot, friends as well as family can bring drama, and trying to keep yourself going as a person can become tough. Many times, we just need something that will take us away from ourselves for a little while so as to take a break from the norm. Not necessarily escapism, but just a break from our own lives so that we can step into the world of another.

Coral Island
Coral Island is beautifully crafted game filled with fun NPCs, a tropical landscape, and a well-crafted story that will pique any gamer’s interest. You arrive on Coral Island as the new farmer ready to take a hoe in one hand and seeds in the other to begin your new life. However, when you reach this island you see that the landscape has been marred due to a recent oil spill that has greatly harmed much of the wildlife.
Upon further investigation you realize that there is much to discover about this island that many had thought to be lost to time itself that has now been unearthed due to this recent disaster. Will you be the one to aid the townies in their quest to return their home to its former glory? Consider making this island your newest cozy gaming adventure.
Fields of Mistria
Like the idea of Coral Island but looking for a bit more magic paired with some open fields? Then you should check out Fields of Mistria. Set in the mountain town of Mistria you are an adventurer who has answered the call from the heads of the town to come help them repair their home after an earthquake has greatly damaged their home.
Upon your arrival you are given a cute cottage as well as a farm to build a life on (oh to own property). As you live your life in the village and explore the landscape you stumble upon the ancient powers that watch over Mistria as you see how they (and you) fit into the bigger picture. Meet charming NCPs, tend to your farm, find ancient artifacts, and help Mistria to gain what it has lost in a world that feels like a loving hug to play.
Magical Delicacy
Looking for some cozy witch vibes? Then you should check out Magical Delicacy. In this game you play as the young witch Flora who has traveled to the city of Groth to fulfill her dream which is to become a full-fledged witch. Cooking is intertwined with magic as you open your shop to fulfill delicious orders for the townsfolk of Groth to extend your knowledge. While living in Groth you soon discover that the city once bustling with witches now holds only two.
And they don’t like each other. Make a delicious life for yourself in the city of Groth as you expand your knowledge, get to know the NPCs through your food, and try to work through the magical rivalry that exists within the bounds of this vast city. Looking for a game that feels like a comforting home cooked meal to play? Then check out Magical Delicacy.
Witchy Life Story
Looking for HEAVIER witchy vibes? Then Witchy Life Story has got you covered. In this game you play as a member of the Von Teasel family. A famous familial group of witches and wizards that are far too snooty for their own good. Once you’ve hit the threshold of your family’s patience with one too many magical mishaps the matriarch of your family, who is your grandmother, decides to give you one final chance to prove yourself as a witch. You are sent to the small mountain town of Flora to act as their town witch in hopes that you can aid them in their annual fall festival.
It becomes increasingly apparent as you play through the story that there is a lot riding on this festival for many of the townsfolk as you strive to help them magically and emotionally. Create potions, charms, incense, and oils to help solve problems while also providing some comfort and support to those around you. The cozy blanket that is this game brings a soothing yet zany touch to this witchy adventure. Check out Witchy Life Story for some good old fashioned magical fun.
Palia
Ok, so maybe it’s not your friends that are causing you drama and you can think of nothing more than to play a cozy multiplayer RPG. Well boy have I got the title for you. Palia is an online MMO that is a new take on the classic game type.
Set in the valley of Kilima you appear in the land out of thin air. No really. A race that was thought to be extinct, humans start forming out of a pink mist from the Pheonix goddess herself and no one can figure out why. The town folk, who are the race know as the majiri, welcome the humans with open arms as they strive to discover why humans are popping up again after thousands of years.
Upgrade your home, grow crops, explore the valley, (flirt with the hot chef) complete quests, and learn what happened to your race all those years ago. There is no combat, no intense grinding, and no hurried play. Just you, your tools, and a big open world to enjoy with your friends or on your own. If this sounds like a fun time then you should look into Palia.
You can get Palia here for free on PC.
Or here for Nintendo Switch (also free).
