At Minimum Use the Compendium
Starting off strong I want to talk to you about your compendium and how useful it is to your gameplay. Your compendium is not just for holding info about different plants and objects. This handy little book holds a collection other pieces of information such as how unlocking certain recipes.
Take copper bars for example. If you’ve already collected copper ore then all you have to do is go into your compendium and look under the subject line for copper ore. Your compendium in this section will show you that, if you don’t have it already, you need to harvest 20 copper ore before you can obtain this recipe. There are many different challenges and tasks that are in this guide that help you to gain certain recipes.
The compendium also holds all the tutorials you come across during the course of the game as well as information about spells and rituals. This information is important for your success so be sure to study your compendium whenever you are able.
One Bite at a Time
If you’re looking for articles like these than there’s a good chance you’ve hit a snag in the game and are looking for answers. This can get frustrating as the game can be a bit difficult to navigate at times. There are many intricacies to the game and not everything can be done all at once. Take this game in strides and try to focus on one or two things at a time so that you don’t become so overwhelmed with what this game has to offer.
I’ve personally have been trying to work on the story by unlocking my broom rather than trying to unlock magic gates or doing the crystal ball challenges. Both are nice but when you try to do all 3 at once it becomes a lot. Plus, given the islands length I find myself wanting to get to place faster so the broom is a priority to me.
Of course, you don’t have to play the game the same way I do but I would recommend focusing on one or two things at a time instead of trying to do it all at once. Enjoy the game as you go rather than all at once, and you might find yourself having even more fun than you thought.
The Wiki is Your Friend
While I like DIY game exploration as much as the next person, in this game you’re going to need some help specifically when it comes to finding resources and story progression.
Thankfully, there is an entire wiki database dedicated to making your gaming experience easier. While the compendium is nice it’s it’s not very helpful with resources that you haven’t discovered yet. The wiki is a big resource for everything in the game and can cut the amount of time it takes to figure everything out in half.
If you need some information about something specific don’t be afraid to look it up on the wiki page first so that you don’t have to do a full scale Google search. You can even pull the wiki up while you’re logging into the game as it’s linked in the bottom right and corner of the main menu.
So, instead of wandering around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to figure out how to get earth essence or what airmelons are, check the wiki first. Unless, running around frantically is your playstyle. In that case, you do you.
Station Storage
As a witch it’s a good idea to pick up anything and everything that you can shove into your pockets. However, this logic can lead to having way too much stuff with very little space. Use places such as your caldron or crafting station to hold certain ingredients. This helps with storage and it makes life easier if you put ingredients in spaces where you tend to use them more. This also makes crafting more efficient as you don’t have to go hunting for ingredients when you’re low on cash and need to makes some amulets. I know I make a lot of perfumes and keeping a few stacks of flowers and herbs in my crafting table at all times works wonders for witchy productivity.
Waiting Games
One thing that this game requires is patience. You’re going to have potions, quests, and rituals that require ingredients that you can’t get until you reach certain seasons. Some things you can’t build until you’re at a certain level in different areas of the game. And some aspects of the game you just can’t reach until you’ve progressed far enough into the story.
At times like these patience is key in order to be able to accomplish the different aspects of the game that require the most effort. Don’t fret too much about how fast you’re progressing and try to focus on enjoying the game. As stated previously this game needs to be taken in bites so don’t try to do it all at once.
I find it helps to focus on smaller tasks while you’re waiting for the big ones such as exploring the island, upgrading tools, and completing quests for the townies in the village. Whatever you decide, enjoy the waiting game as you progress in your witchy island adventure.
Conclusion
While I hope that these tips do help you I encourage you to play the game and fine out what works for you. While blog posts are helpful experience is often the best teacher. As always have fun playing and I hope that these five tips gave you some help on your new magical adventure on Fern Island.
