Introduction
A PC setup is something personal. A mini gaming oasis away from the care of the world where you can melt into whatever world you like at the command of your fingertips (and your wallet). Adding your own personal style and taste into your setup is one way of creating a space you love that allows your to relax and enjoy yourself. However, it can be difficult to know how to curate your setup to the kind that you want when there’s sometimes little inspiration on the internet for the theme you’re going for.
I know for myself I fell in love with the Sanrio themed PC setups that have become increasing popular over time and wanted to build one of my own. However, I soon found myself struggling to find inspiration for my build as, while Sanrio builds were prevalent, there seemed to be a shortage of inspiration for my favorite character Kuromi.
My Quest for Kuromi
I have been slowly accumulating pieces to build the space that I want, and while my set up is by no means finished I wanted to share my setup with you as an example of how to find pieces for your gaming build. Whether you’re a Sanrio lover or not this article is built to help you achieve the overall aesthetic that you want to have for your gaming PC. These tips can be applied to any theme and can help you in deciding the pieces that you want for you themed build.

PC
Let’s start off with the aspect of my PC that’s the priciest, and most complex, which is my gaming PC. I went with a black base and tried to stay close to those colors for reference when building it. When creating a PC, it’s generally a good idea to stay close to the color scheme that you want to emulate when you’re thinking of a theme for your setup.
Of course, try to stay within your budget, and keep in mind that you may have to compromise on some parts. But there are small ways that you can customize your rig. Adding vinyl stickers to the windows of your case adds a certain finished look to your rig while also adding a bit of personality. Keep in mind that RGB lights can also be customized to fit your PC and can create more than enough aesthetic the theme you’re trying to achieve.
Keyboard
The next big aspect of my build is the keyboard. My keyboard is a Razer Blackwidow v3 mechanical keyboard with green switches. The mechanical keyboard was a bit more expensive than what I was used to but worth it for many reasons. The main reason I want to touch on is that the keycaps for this keyboard are hot swappable. I see a lot of themed keyboards on the internet that are themed to exactly the vibe you’re going for with your PC.
However, many of these keyboards can be pricy and the quality isn’t always guaranteed. This is why I recommend getting a keyboard that is hot swappable. This way you can get a keyboard that is cheaper and that you can customize.
At the end of the day try to buy what makes you happy. If you have the money and are familiar with the quality of the pre-themed keyboard you want, then go for it. But if you can’t afford a pre-themed keyboard than consider buying a hot swappable keyboard and just switching out the keys.
There is always the third option which is a can of spray paint but I only recommend this is you know what you’re doing or know someone else who knows what their doing. It’s a heartbreaking experience to ruin a perfectly good, and possibly expensive, piece of gaming equipment with a can of spray paint.
Mousepad
Another great way to customize your desk is with a giant mousepad. There are so many options for mousepads these days that come in so many different sizes. My Kuromi mousepad was around $20 dollars and that’s not an unusual price to for a mousepad of that size. You can find Sanrio characters, or any theme really, in this size. Do your research and be sure to check around for something that you’ll like. These are a game changer for any gaming setup and add so much more to a theme when you incorporate them into your décor.

Accessories
As far as accessories are concerned, I’ve gotten a lot of small, cute pieces for my setup just from places like Five and Below or Miniso. Sanrio themed items are relatively easy to find in places like game stores, discount stores, craft stores, bookstores, and nerdy retail chains such as Boxed Lunch.
For example, Kuromi merch can be a bit harder to find than the other characters depending on where you look. Kuromi is not as popular in craft stores like Hobby Lobby, but can be found everywhere in a Hot Topic. Keep your theme in mind and try to look in places that fit the overall aesthetic of what you’re going for. This goes for Sanrio themed builds and any other theme that you’re trying to achieve.
Conclusion
Creating a cute space you love can be challenging and expensive. But looking for fun and inexpensive ways to add some character to your gaming build can make the experience even easier. Do your due diligence and try to find, not just pieces that fit your theme but that you love. Take time to find things that you enjoy and not necessarily what others think your build should look like. Enjoy yourself and happy hunting.^^
