Intro
As a firmly devoted member of the Kuromi cult I am shocked and saddened by the lack of Kuromi PC builds and setups. Don’t get me wrong, I think Cinnamaroll and My Melody are super adorable and deserve their spot on any PC gamers computer setup.
However, I am determined to add some more Kuromi to my gaming setup and while I do so I want to document the products I use for others who love this mischievous bunny as much as I do. So, as I continue to create my PC build, I will be documenting my process by writing about the different pieces and accessories that I add to it so that more of you can discover more ways to add a bit more Kuromi to add to your space.
Today I will be starting by reviewing the Kuromi keycaps that I bought for my mechanical keyboard recently. I didn’t want to replace my old keyboard as I loved it so much and was ecstatic when I saw this set of keycaps on Amazon for $50 dollars. But just because it’s cute doesn’t mean its good quality. In fact, often something being cute is an indicator that it will be low quality. This article is here to help you decide whether this Sanrio Kuromi Purple Keycaps set is right for your gaming build.

What’s in the Set?
This set gives you 118 keycaps, a keycap puller, and a free pack of Kuromi stickers. These keys are built to fit any key switch that has a “+” shaped model. So, for example, these switches fit my keyboard which uses green “clicky” switches from Razar’s Blackwidow mechanical keyboard line but won’t work with other keyboards that don’t have a plus sign shape to the top of the switch.
The set comes with a few extra key caps such as multiple space bars that allow you to choose how you want the set to look. I really liked how the pink space bar looked with my build as I like a little bit of pink sprinkled into the traditional purple that is usually present in Kuromi’s aesthetic. This set is great if you’re switching your keycaps for the first time as you don’t have to purchase a separate keycap puller to swap out your keys with. The stickers are also a great bonus because who doesn’t like getting stickers?
Aesthetic
Right from the beginning when I pulled this set out of the box, I loved how the keycaps looked. The cute designs on the keycaps fit Kuromi’s aesthetic perfectly and create an almost haphazard feel to the set. However, the built-in designs on the direction keys and the number keys really bring this set to life as they add an amazing feature to the look of your keyboard.
Most of the keycaps are white so if you have a keyboard that uses RGB lights the bright glow will filter through tremendously well. I have my lights set to a pinkish purple RGB lights effect that ripples as you press the keys. This feature alone is worth the money as this adds a more customizable aspect to the product depending on what kind of keyboard you already own.
Feel
I was worried that the keycaps would feel cheap when I was putting them onto the board. But I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the keycaps feel sturdy and do not have the same feel as a knock off version of Legos. I was pleased to discover that the keycaps do not feet cheap at all and feel good under your fingers as you type.
When you type on the keyboard the keycaps feel good to the touch and fit your fingers perfectly to enhance your typing capability. One aspect that I have noticed to be an issue is how the keys lay on the keyboard. There is a small bit of random unevenness as some keycaps sit slightly lower on the keyboard while some sit higher.
It’s a slight difference that is pretty random on the keyboard. This could have been an operator error as I don’t swap out my keys often so take this into consideration when evaluating buying this keycap set. Other than that, the keys feel great and are visually stunning.
Stability
Despite the slight unevenness of the keycaps the keys have stayed in place and not popped off at random intervals, which was another issue that I was worried about when purchasing this set. The keys do not feel unsteady, and I should know as I abuse my keyboard often when I cyberbully 12-year-olds on Roblox through text chat (for legal reasons that was a joke). All in all, the keycaps sit steady on the board and do not move out of place no matter what you throw at them.
Pros
- Adorable design.
- Stable.
- Feel amazing to type on.
- Priced very well for what you get.
Cons
- Sit a bit unevenly on the board.
Conclusion
This set is one that I do not regret buying. For what you get for the price this set is a good one to get for those who want to add a bit more Kuromi to their setup. While there is a bit of unevenness to the keys this not incredibly noticeable and does not take away from the typing experience.
The look and feel of the product are amazing for those who tend to use their keyboards a lot and the cute pictures on the keycaps will make you want to use it even more. If you’ve been looking for a way to add some more Kuromi to your gaming build I recommend this Sanrio Kuromi Purple Keycaps set to your build.
